On November 1, 2024, over 75 Pennsylvania organizations delivered a letter to U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm, issuing their concerns with the continued buildout of Liquefied Natural Gas export facilities. The signatories argue that exports rely on fracked gas that comes from states like Pennsylvania and raise the gas prices for domestic consumers. An LNG export facility was proposed for Chester, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia, but community pushback has stopped the project from reaching the federal permitting process.
